Egging Safety - Fire Extinguisher Recall

We all likely have Kidde made fire extinguishers in our homes and hopefully nearby when we are egging on our decks and patios. This seems to be a pretty big recall. Good time to check the fire extinguishers and smoke detectors anyway.

Dang. That would totally suck to think you're prepared. Have to check mine out tomorrow. Thanks for posting! Hate to burn the garage.
-
Thank you for posting this. I will check mine.
-
Always a good idea to have multiple ones on hand as everything has a failure rate.

If you've got a boat, don't forget to check that one too.

Never owned one in my life... makes me think I should grab one. No wooden decks but hey... I have something on fire here 5 days a week.-FATC1TY

They had a big recall several years ago for the same series that lost pressure after about a year or two. Got me a new one out of that.

Checked them all, good shape, and thank you.

Thanks for the heads up. My kitchen extinguisher is a Kidde - not on the list. Talk about fine print - the label on the extinguisher is a true test of your eye sight. I failed that one.
My extinguisher near my egg is a Buckeye. Solid piece of equipment.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -

If you have Kidde extinguishers call 855-271-0773 . They will take Model and serial numbers from you and send you new ones .This is my second time with recalled extinguishers from them . Bad part is that after doing this before can I trust replacements .Good thing is it was easy to correct . Maybe I will be looking for another brand.

@DoubleEgger - Thanks for the heads-up. 4 out of 5 that I own need to be replaced.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser.

That is what the bean-counters get for wanting to streamline and reduce cost by replacing critical pieces with plastic parts. Now they are recalling them to replace them with stronger parts. They could have used metal for the cost of having to redo it again.

Just don’t ever buy an extinguisher with a nylon head they had problems with them for years . Spend the extra money and get one with metal head they can be recharged if used . Nylon head ones are throw aways .

Thanks for the heads up! I had three units that were affected.
