Who gets the photo worthy plate?

My wife usually gets the best looking plate. I stick the plates in the warmer so at least the meal stays warm during the photo shoot.

Exactly how long does it take you guys to take a pic? I'm curious as to how much effort goes into food pics. 

I have never spent more than 60 seconds prepping a plate and snapping a pic. I'm sure you guys can tell.

I do.  because of the photo my wife let's me pick out the better looking stuff.  I set down at the table. Take 2 or 3 pics. Eat. Then post.

I do. Nobody has time to wait on that. Plus we plate everyone's about the same.

This need to get a finished pic that looks magazine quality makes for great food porn but unless you have exceptional fork placement the shot will likely fall short unless you bring the cook home.
I much prefer the "money shot" to the plated but exterior pic.  At least with the $$ shot you can get an assessment of the results of the cook.  
But given my cheap-a$$ phone, lack of skill and caring beyond the basics of visual clarity, feel free to weigh this post accordingly.
BTW- I always get the money shot

I was curious @DoubleEgger about your question, so I asked Kenzie. 

All jokes aside, I'll get everything ready, plate the food (for all), then quickly go to the back deck (that's where I do most of my shooting sir to poor lighting). She said "it's only a couple mins and you're back".  

Like with you, she waits, and she'll generally make Maryn wait too, so I'm not spending a lot of time.
