We built it about 20 years ago as a "prototype". If it worked well, we planned to replicate it and do a nicer job on one. It ended up working great so we just never bothered to make another. It used to go through a series of snowblower transmissions to gear it down. This year we removed all them and put in a 100:1 gear reduction unit instead, coupled with a 2" and a 16" pulley. Gets the pig to about 2 rpm.Focker said:Killer post, what it's all about.

If you were cooking it for another hour, after it reached 145 in the butt, what was the final temperature when you pulled it off the fire? It looks delicious!

I poured the heat to it for the last 1¼ hours. It was about 170 when we took it off. I should have taken a pic of the trays of meat. It carved up well.
