OT: New DogHouse Forge Rhino Meat Cleaver

So I've had my eye on one of these knives for quite a few months but with a new baby coming and buying a Minimax and a couple of gun toys the "fun money" was having to get stretched.

Last week I got an email from these guys saying they were doing a 25% off sale and I saw a cleaver similar to the one I was looking for so I picked it up. 

Handmade, pure high carbon steel.

@pgprescott I wanna say it was $220 after the discount. 

If you sign up for their emails they do discounts all the time. They are a mom and pop setup so if a particular blade doesn't sell they discount them to get them out of inventory. 

Or if you've got the coin you can just custom the blade you want.

Cool cleaver, dig the rhino spine.
Love seeing the old ones at the antique stores.  Found a nice unmarked Dexter for 9 bones.  Gave it a mirrored edge on the Apex.  The damn thing makes you think where your fingers are at with each swing, as digits would come clean off.  Kind of like running a slicer, humbling.  Have fun with it.

Checked out the site, really nice stuff. I buy some custom knives now and again but mostly for non-kitchen use. Nice to see a outfit putting out quality custom kitchen knives as well.

Nice buy. I like a good heavy blade cleaver. I have two, both are awesome. I keep the honed with a diamond dust sharpener. Talk about getting it done in short order.....

Got my first run in with it today. Chopped onions, chicken, and trimmed a ribeye roast.  This is my kinda knife. Brute force encouraged with marginal finesse. 

Just cleaned and oiled and left to sit on my sacrilegious kitchen pig-god idol.
