Wood chunks

when I put wood chunks on top of my lump for a smoke it seems like they burn up quickly and I don't get much smoke. How much should I use or should I soak them?  Any suggestions?

How quickly are they burning up?

No soak..if going long low and slow, put chunks at a couple differentt levels...its also probably not burnt up, but burning clean....I think there is a bit if a misconception that one needs billowing smoke....it should be thin, bluish and not very visable

The key is you need bigger chunks. I like bowling ball size

Don't put them on top of your lump, mix them in with the lump.
