....well one has to start your day off with a hearty breakfast....before a day of working in the yard. Breakfast as you know, is the most important meal of the day....a little Love for the 17 incher.Jumped all over some yard action...a beautiful day down south. A break from the upper 90's....an ideal day for being outside.

Fast forward to the late afternoon where I spent some time tidying up the house....with this thing called a vacuum cleaner. I did not care to much for that.

Dinner tonight, smoked BBQ Chicken with Salt Lick Que sauce, received from brother Jonathan @Hook_emHornsfan_74
during the rub and Sauce exchange. Good stuff brother.

I  put up a bushel of fresh shelled butter beans (Lima) in the freezer....held back a small batch for dinner tonight.

Had to do some mac and cheese....cause I wanted some.

I made some butter this afternoon, reserving the buttermilk for soaking my okra...prior to frying.

Sliced some local SC Heirloom Maters and plated it all up. All was good when the wif came home.

Everyone have a great week....thanks for looking.

I've never had okrie. I bought some once. It rotted before I could bring myself to try it. No clue what it tastes like.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Excellent cooks right there. Love fried okra. If I find one of those 17 inch Blackstones on clearance anywhere around here, I might just pick one up. Brickseek shows two in stock at a WM about 30 minutes away. Who knows, might grab one of the Akorn Jrs while I am at it.

In 1965, when I was a freshman in college in NC, I had never even heard of okra. One of my new friends (from NC) told me to avoid it at all costs. I don't know why I still remember that after all these years, but... so far, so good. =)

Egg wash, flour, s&p, then fried like chicken, right?

Soak your okra (cut stem off or into bite size pieces) in Buttermilk. Drain....and dredge in flour with salt, pepper and some garlic powder. Heat up da oil.....and let them them fry until a nice golden brown. No eggs (wash) used.

It was very good. I put it on the skin....and the wife and I both had to have some for dipping also. Looking forward to trying it with some other meats as well.

"I made some butter this afternoon" - I can't say that I've ever considered making my own!!

Indeed an incredible day in the South for this time of the year...and that meal looks phenomenal. Fried okra rules in my house...

Thanks postal....we were lucky....humidity was only in the 50's today. Butter by the way is so simple. I lightly salted this batch....but can really take it a lot of places with herbs, honey etc. Okra rock.

My goodness that looks fantastic!!   Okra is great. I see  you cook yours whole. I assume you could cut it into Pitek sized pieces and cook it the same way?   I have to try it - never made it myself.

Another way thats officially southern is to put okra and butter beans in a pot, season appropriately add water and boil.  Add butter when finished.  Love it when someone servs boiled okra and most people run away.  That just means there's more for me.  BTW  my mother from Athens Ga and Father from Lamar SC.  Southern all the way.
