Picnic Ham for pulled pork?

So I was at Sam's club today trying to get my normal 2 pack of Pork Shoulder and they didn't have the normal stuff.  They had single pack pork shoulders and single pack picnic hams.

Does anybody have good results doing pulled pork with the picnic ham?  It was shaped a bit different and had some pig skin still on it.

I ended up buying the shoulders because I'm making 4 butts for other people for parties.  I figure I better not try out something new when others are paying.  :)

Busy weekend/start of the week for me and the egg.  Did 5 racks of baby backs for my older girl's birthday party Saturday.  Doing a full packer and 2 shoulders for another birthday party.  And doing 2 shoulders for a 4th of July party.  And tonight I did t-bones on the minimax for dinner.

The picnic makes excellent pulled pork. In fact, I prefer cooking whole shoulders (butt and picnic unseparated) when making pulled pork. The combination of the picnic and butt is par excellent.
The picnic can stand alone. It does not have to be pulled. It makes for a great southern ham when simply cooked, sliced and served.
But to answer the direct question, absolutely, picnic makes great pulled pork.

A missed opportunity....but as I like to say, there is no bad BBQ....some is just better than others.

I've never cooked one, been put off by some people claiming they are so much leaner than pork butts that they very easily become dry.  Is that simply not true, or do you do something special to keep them from getting dry?  Would you cook a picnic and a pork butt the same way?

    Thanks!

Interesting. I'm also wondering different ways too cook them. First time I've ever seen them.

Picnics are always on sale around here for 99cents to 80 cents a pound. So I snatch them up for pulled pork and it's just as good as butt. It does seem to take longer and can be leaner so low and slow is key fwiw.

Well I've posted a couple of times but didn't pull the trigger and deleted them. I love a picnic, it's great for the egg but I find it a bit stringy for pulled. I would recommend either chopped or pulled at 185-190 and sliced.
