Blew my wife away about today's jumble
one of the jumbled words in today's paper was listed as "augav". She tried and tried to unscramble it with no luck. She asked me to help and as soon as I looked at it I said the word is "guava" and she seemed to doubt me. I said that is the wood chunks I buy from Hawaii from that guy. I proved it to her by showing her some of the wood and then pulled up Gregg Kemp's site! It really is a mild and unique wood flavor I use for chicken which isn't over powering.

I also do the Jumble each day. Must be an old guy thing.
I've also ordered guava hunks from Hawaii but not sure if it is from the same fellow. The last box I got arrived in terrible shape and a bunch of the chunks (about a pound) were lost in transit. The mail carrier brought it up to my house in a plastic bag and apologized and explained that is how they received it. I didn't really fault the USPS too much - the wood chunks were loose in the box to begin with and the box (one of USPS's priority mail boxes) was wrapped in some tough tape - just not in the right spots and one of the corners blew out.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Then, at sunset, your wife, bitter from being proven wrong, hopped into her white early 1990's corvette and did 12 donuts in your front lawn. She stopped, surface oil smoking lightly from the engine that is seldom used. Pensively, she looks at you, mouths "Jumble &^%$#@" and does a 13th donut. You nod, understandingly because a baker's dozen is better, and gather the extra blankets and pillows for the guest room. Another bullet dodged, another calendar year checked off.
Or not.

That @nolaegghead really understands women. He thinks of a man - And he takes away reason and accountability.

Plus, who said men have accountability and reason? Some, perhaps, but I don't think there's a division between the sexes. (although in full disclosure, I plead guilty to lacking in both departments).

I was trying to paint you as a connoisseur of movie lines.

I still use pecan for smoke. My beautiful Wife is OK with it.
No need for violent rage exhibitions around our humble abode. That energy is used elsewhere for much more appreciated activities, of which we both participate avidly, as well as, frequently.

It's the wood that's important, but some say guava does help put one in the island mood.Love you bro!

I'm sure the box was fine when it left Hawaii. It was just "blown up" by the time my local station received it. Happens sometimes. I get the occasional magazine which appears to have been scrunched in a compactor which my local PO will place in a plastic bag and explain/apologize for what happened. No biggie.

I don't do jumbles but I do the crossword puzzle everyday, in ink. The Sunday New York Times one does take me a while though.

My ADD won't let me do (by do I mean finish) crosswords. The Jumble is a quick 2 minute entertainment after reading the comics page.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk
