Can you reuse BGE cedar planks more than once?

I use Cedar Planks for Salmon and reuse them. I scrub them with hot water and let them air dry. When I reuse them I place them on the egg for 4 minutes prior to placing the salmon filet on the plank.

- Grilling planks are only intended for single use. Reuse is unsanitary.
I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca. -
I reuse them until they are too charred to use again. Just scrub with steel wool and water. I usually only use for salmon/fish, so no problem using them more than once.

Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

I've used my planks probably 20 times. If you do raised direct they won't burn too bad. I flip them over at the end to burn both sides - I'm sure any uncooked fish stuff has burned off. Rinse them off with hot water and they're good to go again.Milton, GA

I don't know about shingles, but I know some cedar fencing has waterproofing chemicals soaked in, I'd be suspicious.fishlessman said:buy a bundle of cedar shingles at hd and you will have a lifetime of inexpensive disposable planks
A friend of mine gave me some cedar cutoffs from his fence however, and I used them for awhile, and I think I'm still covfefe.
And I prefer alder to cedar, but that's personal preference.“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

For under $1 each shipped, I just toss them. Not worth the effort.

the shingles you want will say untreated, they stain better so they dont waterproof those.Botch said:

Use to work as a cook in an upscale 'fish' restaurant ... health inspector said reuse was a 'no go' .. I'll stick with him.OhioEgger said:
