I fully understand and after soaking and scrubbing them the best I could I stretched them out of shape so they would not seat and seal properly. That's when I bought replacement lids.

just bought 4 blue splash proof lids off ebay, total $6.20 with free shipping from hong kong.  wish they had black lids so you could not see the grime thru the clear lid =)

My Yeti cup will be 2 years old in July.  Still using the original lid and gasket also. Never been actually washed. Just rinsed off here and there.

I remember when Yeti was the only place to get one, now the whole market is flooded with em ... saw the 30oz version @ Walmart on clearance for $3.75 .. they had some 40 or so in the bin.

I picked up some "replicas" on sale at wal-mart for $7. I did a comparison and well they both lasted almost identical times from ice to water. Did I say that out loud?

I have cleaned my gaskets several times. It is kinda difficult to get the gaskets out of the groove they are seated in on the lid, but once you get then out, the gaskets and lids are easy to clean and it is easy to put them back.
I was surprised by how much moldy, slimy gunk was there.

Ok, I just checked mine. I had removed and cleaned the ring before so it wasn't bad. I have been known to use a coffee mug multiple times between thorough cleanings... but two years is a stretch - even for me! =)

Mine is an Ozark Trail Yeti, NOT a Yeti Yeti.

    Thanks @fishlessman for the PSA.

While some comments have dised the idea of cleaning the lid here is my assessment - take it for what ever you want.

Last Fall I had some serious dental work done of having three teeth removed and bone build up in anticipation of 2 dental implants screwed into my jaw for a 3 tooth bridge this Spring.

Well - soon thereafter I ended up in the hospital for 8 days due to an infection incurred in those raw gums. While the infection specialist doctors tried to figure out the source of the germs I finally offered up the "maybe" idea of contamination from a YETI drink gasket. That source was never ruled out though they never nailed the source positively either.

Just the same that hostipal stay plus the daily injections for 11 weeks thereafter all costing $112k will always make me suspect those dirty YETI gaskets!

Why dis something gross with mold hidden underneath that you put to your lips if you have an open sore in your mouth for the sake of cheap replacements?
