Paring knife
I am doing a paring knife exchange on the Canadian Knifemaking Forum. It's like sauce and rub exchange on this forum but more Canadians...and knives... and less sauces and rubs.
Thought I would show you the one I made for it since it has a cooking theme being a paring knife and all.

Awesome! Details, need details, what is the wood? Where do you source your steel? Inlay or veneer? Very nice workmanship.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

The steel is 1/16 A2 that I get as flat stock and grind out the blank. I made cut 3 out and this is the first one done.
The handle is madrone burl sanded to 400 grit then dyed with mahogany and then Jacobean stain. The liner and spacers are G10 with brass pins. Final sanding was up to 1500 grit. Not sure if I will finish it with oil/wax or poly. Prefer oil but poly would give more protection.
I don't have a forge yet so everything I do is single layer although I may spring for one soon to play with pattern welds and San Mai construction.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large. -

I glued up a different handle with African Blackwood but that stuff is so hard that when sanding it got hot enough to melt the epoxy. Need to learn how to use it.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large. -
Great craftsmanship right there. Someone on the exchange is gonna be a major winner with that piece. Impressive skill-set.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
