XL Burn time @ 250 degrees?

I am considering selling my L and getting an XL. Wondering what the burn time is @ 250? Hoping to get over 12 hours for briskets.

I can get over 20 hours on my large so 12 hours on an XL wouldn't be a problem at all.Nerk Ahia LBGE

1st long burn on my XL went 20+ hours
-
I just a did a 15 hour burn and probably could have gone for a few more hours.
-
I have an XL and 20+ will not be a problem. I have done 18 brisket cooks and had a lot of lump left over. I would also keep the large. I am wanting a large to go with my XL some day. I have another smoker, but there have been times when I could have used three at one time. Just my 2 cents.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

I've done 16hrs brisket followed by a 4hrs ribs during the same cook with an XL.

You will have 0 problems. I just did an overnight cook. 25lbs of meat. Had enough left over to do a high temp pizza cook and still had lump left over. 40 degree overnight outside temp

It will go over 26 hrs. I only know this because I forgot to shut it down after a cook to find it a day later. So it was 26ish hrs with coal still to burn.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

Agree with all above, my longest cook was 16hrs and there was charcoal left over plus with the heat retention there'd be heat for 20hrs“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

I did 18 with my large and didn't even fill it up. Probably could have gone at least 10 more.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

24+ with ease.

I had mine go (with a full firebox load) > 24hrs (cook was only 18hrs, I just wanted to see how long it would go and finally shut it down after 24hrs), then cooked 2 400degree+ cooks (steaks and burgers) with the leftovers.
Love my XL -
All of the above. Didn't see anyone mention to fill it to the bottom of the notches the plate setter sits in.
-
Agree with all. Did an 18 hour cook and only used half of the lump.
-
I cooked 2 butts at 250 for 16 hours Saturday and then cooked 5 pizzas at 550-600 Sunday and did not add any lump in my XL.

I disagree with all of the XL owners who posted above.
If you can't get over 12 hours on a large, you'll have the same problem with an XL. You are either using the wrong lump, using used lump, or not filling the egg up to the correct level. Just short of the top of the fire ring is the correct level.
With a full load of Rockwood (other brands may vary) the large egg will maintain 250 degrees for over 24 hours. Enough time to cook a brisket from Paul Bunyan's Big Blue Ox.

All lump is different. Some is more dense and burns longer. 20+ hours @250 is easy on the XL. My first cook, with real good lump was over 30 hours. Don't be afraid of loading full of lump.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

The longest I've ever burned my XL was 19 hours at 250 - and I had a considerable amount of lump left to burn longer.Living the good life smoking and joking

I got 63 hours out of Russian Center Cut and I only filled it to the top of the fire bowl.

I've gotten 20+ hours from a load and still had some left afterwards, never really timed it though.

Agree with everyone on cooking times with the XL. Never had a problem. Also, @westernbbq and @Mikea5232 I've done 2 briskets with the CGS adj rig and I agree I could've fit a 3rd (depending on size).XL BGE, CGS AR & spider, 36" SS Blackstone, SMOBOT - Flower Mound, TX
