Paella, Pizza, Bread, Salad

So after finding paella pans for cheap last night at Marshalls, we decided that two years since making paella was way too long. Texted a bunch of friends and called a dinner party. Got home and put some pizza dough together. Also started some bread dough, but didn't take pics of that.
Went to Shady Maple today and picked up what else we needed. Still had some Bomba rice left from my wife's visit to Spain, so just needed some seafood.
Got home and baked some bread:
My much better half whipped up a nice Spanish salad
Got things setup outside
Started making some pies
Cranked out three cheese pizzas and held them in the oven while I started the paella.
Sauteed the green beans, no pic. In went the shrimp and squid.
When they came out in went the onion and garlic, then the tomato. And then the rice and stock. While that was cooking down, I made a few BBQ pulled pork pizzas, here's one.
Rice was getting happy.
Just a bit later, topped the paella and finished it. Here it is on the table.
I could have gotten a better socarrat, will let it toast a bit more next time. Had a great time with great friends. 6 pizzas, 17" paella, 3 baguettes, and a large salad and we only had one slice of pizza, one baguette, about 3 cups of rice, and 3 cups of salad left.
I won't let it go another two years until making paella again, now I just need to find a local source for bomba rice...

That is multiple layers of goodness there. It's certain you shouldn't wait two years for that again.Coleman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

That is one awesome dinner party! You had some very lucky guests!
You don't really need bomba rice from Spain, all you need is Valencia short grain rice. It's inexpensive and my Publix carries it. If you can't find any near you, I will be happy to send you some.

@DMW- as mentioned in the naked whiz paella tutorial, arborio will work. I have consumed my most recent load of bomba and have gone to arborio for now. FWIW- I am not enough of a connoisseur to truly appreciate the difference although nailing the soccarat seemed easier with the bomba.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.
