Ok I bit the bullet on a blackstone....

I seasoned it up and noticed it drips where the oil runs off cook top to drip tray. I saw YouTube where someone made a dam with in weld and put a elbow on the end of the drip tray

@tz666  Here is a thread I did a while ago.  Simple, no weld fix to the common problem you explained.  I think a fair number of guys here have followed suit.

I cannot figure out why BS hasn't re-positioned the drip point at the time of manufacturing.  Maybe nobody at Blackstone uses a Blackstone...

    Enjoy the new toy!

Did y'all drill a hole in the griddle drip neck
    image

  • I second @blasting s solution. I did the same with similar results. No drilling.

Just mold the high heat JB Weld like putty, put a little angle on it and let it dry.

Solved all my problems. (Well, it solved my Blackstone problem)

Is blackstone mostly for making delicious grilled sandwiches?

You said on the other thread you there is no hole drilled - that's interesting.  I'd drill a hole right above the drip cup, and then put a nub of jb weld right by the hole to force it to drip and not run back along the underside.  Hope that made sense.

And magical fried rice, smash burgers, quesadillas etc  Heck, I've used mine to brown up perogies.

Doctor told me yesterday I CANNOT buy the deep fryer I want (no joke).  I didn't dare bring up the Blackstone.

I'd find another doctor.  Plus, what the hell is he doing telling you what kind of cooking appliances to buy?

Ever hear the story of the vegetarian working the grill at Ruth Chris's?  (me neither, I just made it up, but *seems* plausible).

A hole won't fix the problem, it is two-fold.  The first design flaw is at the corner, where it is almost notched.  Grease will run down at that point.  The JB weld pushes the grease around the flaw.

That's interesting.  The corner isn't an issue on the 36.

Still wondering how a fundamental problem like grease drainage on a flat top hasn't been solved in year three of production.

The good news is, besides the fixable grease problem, the thing preforms flawlessly.

The new 22 has the grease shoot out the back. Wish these had that feature

Yea I understand I was just wondering if the pics with the holes were drilled by blackstone or by the owners. My 28 doesn't have a hole

The hole was moved to the other side of the griddle top . It's to hang the griddle for sandblasting or spraying with oil . Or something like that. They added a bead underneath too, but it's still too far back to rectify the problem.

The can mod has worked well so far. Bought the JB weld by haven't put it on yet.

I see the hole on the opposite side of mine in the lip. you are saying it used to be on the drip end of the grease trough. I got you now. I got some JB weld and I think I am going yo use the can method also.
