just wanted to say hello! Long time reader. Just got my med egg a couple months ago. Haven't really broke her in yet. Only thing I've cooked so far are 3 prime ribs. Each time they've come out perfect! Talk about expensive for extras. I got my plate setter, kick ash basket, ott plate and grid remover, table nest, and smoke ware chimney. Already ordered a replacement gasket (thanks rrp). Thinking about the future. I do want to get a cast iron grate. And now I'm thinking the medium was a mistake. Should of got a large

Welcome to the fray @Thomasc18!
I have a Woo ring and it has become indispensable. It's great to have 2 levels of cooking above the fire box level.
Enjoy your Egg and all of the great cooks that will come off of it.

I have the medium with a cast iron grate. It has suited me since 2009. That said, I will eventually upgrade to a large.

If I bought the woo than the ott plate and grate remover would be a waste of money. I could just use the handles to remove everythingMadison, AL

Another woo guy here with added extended grid and oval stone for indirect cooks.... Thanks cgs! Love my woo

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. Above all, have fun. And don't second-guess your BGE purchase-just figure out the way ahead and eventually go for it. Patience with the after-market accessories. Plenty of time for those.
You can get amazing results off any sized BGE-just ask away and you will get plenty of help here. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

I have a Medium and a Large, and I LOVE my Medium, and use it a LOT more than the Large. It's perfect most of the time! Like someone else said, above, I see people doing amazing things with even smaller Eggs. Enjoy it! Take your time. Keep reading this forum and see what people are doing with MMs, Smalls and even Minis. You can do a LOT with a Medium!

Not a mistake....most of us have more than one egg. The medium has its place. Enjoy it.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

I've cooked a 12 and a half pound spatchcocked turkey on my medium Another time I cooked 9 pounds of pork loin on it, admittedly it was cut into two pieces.

Second Eggs are almost compulsory, so it doesn't really matter where you start, just fill the gap later.Thomasc18 said:just wanted to say hello! Long time reader. Welcome @Thomasc18, the medium egg is a great one to learn on. If youll add to the arsenal id recommend a minimax. And yes, the accessories are a racket. Ceramic Grill Store is your best friend here....
If you emd up adding a large bge later the med will come in handy for sides, extras etc. The L is versatile, especially if you get cgs multi grid system and rig extender fyi
Post picts of cooks. I have done two prime ribs on XL for Christmas and both were amazing.... -

Welcome, and maybe you really want an XL.

Of the sizes I've owned (MM, L and M), the Med is the best performer IMO. Unless you use a lot of large cooking vessels on the Egg (e.g., Dutch ovens, pans, etc.), you'll be just fine with the Med. Congrats.Thomasc18 said:just wanted to say hello! Long time reader. Just got my med egg a couple months ago. Haven't really broke her in yet. Only thing I've cooked so far are 3 prime ribs.
