The Lowly BGE Grate Gripper

I've bought and tried just about everything you can think of to clean the grate. I always keep coming back to the tool everybody loves to hate - the lowly grate gripper. This tool actually makes a pretty good scraper. The rounded and flat ends works well on the grate and it's easy to use the tool to get the underside as well. No bristles to worry about. Resistant to wear. No wasting aluminum foil. Likely was free with your egg purchase.

Triangle brush is the work horse. Brillo scrubber no. 2 followed by wood scraper and grillflosss then billy bar. I like to have options.

Tried all of them except that contraption with the ash tool.pgprescott said:

Interesting handle on that egg.

I use fire for the cleaning agent- works well and is always available just before loading the groceries. Will use a putty knife for the chunks but not that frequent a requirement. Ash tool. And a very keen sense of balance.

What I used with a Weber was getting the grill/grate hot and then use an onion or an orange to clean it, they both do the trick. Still use these for cleaning the Egg.

Why are your cleaning tools all huge?pgprescott said:
