Random Acts

My lovely wife had a birthday yesterday - one of the "milestone" type of birthdays. We are having a party for her tomorrow night. She has a very kind heart and a good soul and I'm very proud of her for this. I'm not really a planner so she got to plan her own party.

She has a party bus rented for 3 hours and about 35 of us are trekking around town to do 40 random acts of kindness. Instead of gifts, she has asked our friends to bring donations for shelters, the humane society, food pantries, dropping off quarters at a laundromat, etc. We will conclude the route with a stop at a craft brewery and then dinner at our house. Should be a fun time.

Here's the start of the party. Four butts with Memphis Dust, hickory and apple going at 225 until morning and then I'll bump to 275. One of these will get delivered to the Plymouth Fire Dept for dinner tomorrow night.

The fire chief said they are not allowed to accept donations of over $5. Cookies or something like that would be fine. HA! When I said we wanted to bring pulled pork and buns, he was fine with that... They have been at our house a couple of times over the past few years (only one was a serious concern) and they are a great bunch of guys.

    Great idea.

That is something that is missing in our world today. Being a leader by serving others. I commend your lovely wife, you and those invited for the 40 acts of kindness. Thank you for making life grand for random people on that night.

The first thing my wife said when reading this post was," figures the wife has to plan her own party..." . After reading it, she was commending your wife for being so thoughtful of others. That is a very nice way to celebrate a birthday.
Then she said, " Nice Butts". They look great and we are sure the First Responders will enjoy the recognition that they rarely get.

What a greatidea. My wife sat done with the homeless guy in our town and asked about his life story. He was excited some cared enough to ask. She then went into the grocery store and bought him a chicken dinner. He still waves at her every time he see her drive by. And she chats with him every couple months. A lot of times people just need to know someone cares.

Great way to celebrate and give back-most thoughtful and you will be rewarded going forward.
Those butts look great.  I'm sure the FF's will enjoy the Q as will the dinner guests.  Enjoy the celebration.
