I'm looking forward to Lidl opening soon around the corner from us. Aldi is a minute down the road too.

Picked up a log of Appleton Farms spicy salami for $6, can't wait to tear into it.  The Appleton Farms bacon (have tried the jalapeno, and apple smoked) is top notch for the price.  Haven't tried the maple flavor.

Forgot to add another reg in stock item to the list.....their Tuscan Garden bacon bits are awesome, price cannot be beat at a buck and change.

I went there today solely due to this thread.  They are dirt cheap on things like salsa, chips, boxed meals such as rice and beans, etc.  They had a relatively small meat section, but almost all of their beef was USDA choice.  I was impressed with the value of their frozen lobster tails and frozen crab legs.  I got two medium lobster tails for $12.99.  The crab legs were about 8 bucks a pound.

$6.21 for this little, yet meaty, 3lb rack of precut St Louee spares that I had to take home with me.
    Early morning cherry smoke sesh.

I picked up some spares from them a while back. They were some of the meatiest spares I ever had and they were damn good to boot.

Shop ALDI all the time. I only wish they had a bigger selection of steaks. I've egged the Salmon, ribs, chicken and steaks. Every single thing has turned out great. I love browsing all the odds and ends. Occasionally you'll see a enamled cast iron dutch oven, but thos go pretty quick. Can't go wrong saving money.

Today's lunch, total under 8 bucks.  Their Gherkins have a Claussen like crunch, and the salami is awesome.  Not Graziano Brothers, but for 6 bucks...flavorful fire.

We are huge fans. With 2 kids we save tons of money. We don't always use them exclusively but we can make it a one stop shop. Avocados are a killer price. Fruit and veggies are usually great but sometimes can b hit or miss. Their house pizza is great. Frozen broccoli is awesome. Plus we buy cases of veggies and condensed soups. Kids snacks are way cheaper too.

Grabbed the last 3, and they now have brioche hamburger buns, $1.99 for a 4 pack.  Deluxe American slices, ernyin, and the boys will love smashburgers a la BS tomorrow.

I bought the standard grass fed a couple of weeks ago. So far, I had one 1/3 lb smashburger. It was good, but no better than the standard 80/20 I've always bought at my usual store.

Wonder what Kobe "style" means... $7 instead of $6? Hope you like it. =)

    Ingedient list.. Wagyu Beef.
    Product of Australia.

So a Japanese breed in Australia.  =)

Knew it wasn't true Kobe going in, but worth a shot for quality beef at a decent price.  It will produce a good turd, double guaranteed by Aldi.  ;)

I stopped into Aldi tonight to grab some chips, salsa, bananas, and some pancake mix for dinner tonight on the Blackstone. (The Blackstone has come in handy for us meatless catholics on Fridays) Anyways, I ran into a coworker at Aldi tonight. She was in awe with the place. She couldn't believe the prices. I know another coworker does all her shopping strictly at Aldi. I don't think I'd go that far but always nice to save a few bucks.

Boys(3), crushed a pack of beef sticks and half jar of these pickles, $2.49 on an endcap at the checkout lane.  I had one, great crunch and flavor, a true dill, with it floating around along with mustard seeds.  Smokes Vlasic and Claussen.

Found their fresh spinach yesterday. In the refrigerator at the back of the store. Near the yogurt. $1.49. As I recall, it's $2.50 at my usual store.

Good stuff, their Greek Yogurts for $ 0.65, are a bargain too.

The brioche buns were $3.99 for a 4 pack, last smashtime at Schnucks, that's 50% off.

Their house brand (Great Gherkin) hamburger dill chips are the best I've had in a long time. Great crunch and flavor. Much better than Mt Olive or Vlasic. Not sure if I've ever had Claussen. Haven't tried the German ones.

Nice.  These are a step up from the Great Gherkin, but a buck more.

Great prices on K-cCups which is our main reason for going there. My wife also buys bagels and veggies from them along with other stuff. I've bought several spices/rubs.

FYI - Aldi is a sister store to Trader Joe's. The parent company was started by two brothers who had a falling out and split the company into Aldi North (Trader Joe's) and Aldi South (Aldi).
Didn't realize this! I was about to state that TJ is a California-based company and Aldi is German, but looking it up, it appears that the brothers split Aldi in the 60s or 70s into Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud. Trader Joe's was bought by the brother that owned/ran Aldi Nord in the late 70s. It is a subsidiary of Aldi Nord and the only one in the U.S., whereas Aldi stores in the U.S. are Aldi Sud, a wholly separate company from TJ/Aldi Nord.
You are right, and were right, and now more wrong.  Trader Joe's was started in CA.  Aldi's N. and S are both German. Now, so is Trader Joe's.

I'm just messin' wif ya Dylan.

Wish we had one.  I'm a cheap bastard.  And they sell good stuff cheap.

And they do offer refunds, as I reference here:

Those boys ate all that?! One of those plates would feed me breakfast for at least two days, possibly three!

Bought the brioche buns today. They don't weigh anything!! Was expecting a little heft.

One piece of sausage on the little guy's plate was all that was left.

The beef was really good tonight, better than standard for sure.  My boy ate 2.

Even better today.  Bonus points for getting the kids to pound some spinach courtesy of the masters of the grinder, Meatheads in Milan.  Spinach mozz chicken brats were cooked raised direct and slow smoked with apple, gently cooked to IT of 160.  Started at 220, let her cruise up to 280, and dropped the brat on the preheated iron to finish.

Then opened her up until the iron hit 500.

Nice thing about the brioche, they toast easily on their own, pillowy soft.
Did I mention I love raw ernyin?  And those German pickles!

Our Aldi in town is being remodeled and it's closed. They're preparing for Lidl opening soon.

Went to the Aldi that was just reopened in Lexington.  Wow! Place was amazingly nice and upscale looking. Cannot wait till the reopen locally and when Lidl opens. Hopefully we can drop Walmart from groceries.
