Read in my newspaper this morning that Virginia is changing the law that banned products like Everclear. Starting July 1th we can now buy Everclear 151 proof.

Not that I care as I didn't even know it was banned cuz I never went looking for it but still... WooHoo!... quasi-Freedom!! :)

PA - original Quaker state and font of blue laws....  Still forced to buy All liquor  at state run stores, and up until recently all wine as well - leads to great selection and pricing in a state controlled monopoly staffed by government employees (sarcasm meant).... except now a limited number of grocery stores can sell wine. Beer - bought in cases and 12 packs at beer distributors only...  can buy up to 2 six packs at a time from a bar if they offer carryout. Some grocery stores sell beer but you can't put it in your cart with groceries and go through the same checkout - must go to the "bar" cash register.  while you can only buy 2 six packs at a time, there's no limit as to how many times you can go out to your car, put the beer in, and go back to buy 2 six packs again.....   Liquir licenses limited and capped, creating an artificial shortage resulting in outrageously expensive licenses on the secondary market and lots of really good byob restaurants.....  total mess, especially if you happen to believe that capitalism works!

Not sure if it is still a law in Missouri, but if an establishment sold 5% beer during the week then they could not sell any beer on Sunday. But if a place sold 3.2% beer all week they could also sell it after 12:00 noon on Sunday.
Used to be here you could buy a beer with your lunch at 11:00, but if you wanted wine you had to wait until 12:00.  They've changed it now, 11:30 for either.

@bgebrent , there is very little known about the health effects of marijuana, because it has been and is still categorized as a Schedule 1 drug, making it extremely difficult for researchers to even obtain for study.
One early study has shown that it can badly stunt certain development in teen-aged brains, and so it may be useful to impose an age limit as we currently do with alcohol.
We do know that MJ can ease so many chronic conditions currently being treated with opioids, which are killing thousands (follow the statistics, I know you can).  Likewise, alcohol kills thousands every year, unlike the current death toll in the US from marijuana use (zero, last I checked).
If you have some studies to post refuting this, I'd love to read them, thanks.

I'll dig em up.  It is intuitively obvious to anyone who understands that smoking cigarettes is bad, that a different leaf with some similar properties and level of consciousness changing properties would be bad.  The effects on the developing brain...bad.  It's addictive and serves as a gateway drug for those who are vulnerable.  Alcohol has it's issues of course.
Do you believe there have been no DUI's due to mj in Colorado and other states that have legalized.  It'll take a couple of years for that to come together but I'd bet it's coming.
Give me a little time.  I'll get back to you brother.

Not trying to harass my friend.  Just letting you know what's out there in the literature that's pretty clear.  I'll dig up a few more.

There's lot's more, in peer reviewed journals.  Occasional use probably has minimal detrimental effects, but they are there.  Early chronic use can be devastating.  Please let me know of your objections to this information.  I can find more science.

I agree the opiod problem is huge.  I live in "the heroin triangle" and have seen kids my kids went to school with die.  Doesn't change the fact that mary jane has big negatives too.

Passionate about this topic brother because my oldest son fell victim to ill effects of this drug.  Sorry if I've come across at all negative.  I hope you'll read these and more.  The misinformation out there is thick.

Granted the laws are not right and need revision.  But the science is there.  Change the laws to be less harsh.  Can't change the science.  MJ is bad for you, especially teens. But adults too.  When someone you know gets killed by a high driver, will that be enough?  People fail to understand the health risks of smoking pot.  Spare me the alcohol argument please.

I look forward to the day when we all view the marijuana laws in a minority of states and counties as nutty.
And based on what trillion studies do you assert this.  Or do you just oppose government prohibition?  Follow the science.  I know you can.   Unless I misunderstand your position.  Dude, pot is bad medically and in every other way.
Wait, what? Has cancer or autoimmune disease never affected anyone you personally know?
Sorry I wasn't clear.  THC does have good medicinal uses, clearly.  It is also uniformly bad for health when smoked, clearly.  Can you agree?
