It's 19.99 here in Huntsville al. I've bought many of times in the past. Lots of dust in bag. Now I use rockwood.Madison, AL

I would rather use Kingsford with lighter fluid than ever use Cowboy Lump again. The bag I purchased, many years ago, had quarter round, with small nails in it, and wood flooring, not even close to carbonized.
I dumped the remainder in the trash, where it belonged, after the first burn."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I just rec'd 6 bags of Rockwood. 21.95 each free shipping and no tax. Not bad.
-
yeah, when I get through my RO I might try Rockwood. Are they 15# or 20# bags?
Strongsville, OH

Rockwood is 20# bags. Order 6, as the box they ship in holds 3 bags, and shipping is free at 5 bags or above. Just ordered yesterday. Be warned about what shows up at your door though...

A co-worker just tried a bag. His cooker was still belching black smoke after 30 minutes. I've never seen black smoke come out of an Egg. He did a rack of baby backs and wound up throwing them away because they tasted like tar.
He said he poured the rest of the bag in after the rib debacle and just let it cook until it was smoke free. It took an hour. He did burgers the next day on what was left an said it was OK.
I'll stick with Royal Oak.Michiana, South of the border. -
I had a bag of cowboy lump years ago. When I poured it into my cooker, at the time, it still had pieces of oak parquet flooring squares that still had varnish on them.
I dug all that stuff out and threw the entire bag away.
I have never purchased another bag since, nor will I."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I find the amount of fine powder and small pieces can fill all the air spaces and choke out your fire due to low air flow. Same issue with the Vision I tried from Sams club ONCE.
-
I buy cowboy lump and just toss the rocks I find in the bag next to the fence. Been doing that for a couple years now.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

Tried the cowboy brand lump on Memorial Day weekend when I unexpectedly ran out of the bge brand lump. Found it at ace hardware, and I wasn't impressed at all! Instead of big chunks/blocks of wood is was small, powdery, and feel through the grate easily. My opinion the cowboy brand isn't worth it.
