Smoking salmon and other fish

is it safe to smoke salmon, and cook other types of fish in the egg?  I had a wsm and people said never
to smoke or cook fish in the same cooker you use for other meats.

Perfectly safe, whether in a BGE or a WSM. Good too!

The no fish in the same cooker myth is not related to safety, but supposed transfer of fish flavor to other meats.

Some overreact due to the stronger odor of fish.  I have smoked fish in 2 of 3 eggs(one is dedicated to baking), and all 3 WSMs.

Use a drip pan lined with foil, clean your grates post cook, and you'll be fine smoking fish in the egg.

Been smoking salmon for years in the BGEs, no issues with any flavoring on any of the cooks that follow. You are safe to cook or smoke fish on your egg and follow it with anything, no worries. Use GAP in cleaning your grids and handling the wood planks if you use them.

if you smoked fish 30 days in a row then smoked something else you might pick up some flavors. bring the temps up to 500 to 800 for an hour or two and any off flavors will disappear. i do alot of chicken thighs in the summer and do this clean burn maybe once a month if the grease is building up.

Smoked Salmon is one of my favorites! here is a glaze that we like:
    1/3 cup                 Brown Sugar
    2 Tbsp.                 Lemon Zest
                                  Juice from ½ Lemon
    1 ½ tsp.                Kosher Salt
    ½ tsp.                   Black Pepper

Don't worry your egg will be fine! Have fun

Once you figure it out that smoking fish will NOT harm your
    BGE, try this:
This works IMO with any fish smoked or just leftover from last night.
    Appetizer, Fish, King, Smoked

    INGREDIENTS:
1 lb Smoked King Mackerel, Cut into small pieces
    3/4 cup Milk
3 8 Ozs Pkg Cream Cheese, Softened
1/3 cup Garlic Chives or Scallions, Chopped fine
    2-3 Tbs Horse Radish
    1/2 cup Sour Cream
    2-3 Tbs Mayonnaise
2-3 Tbs Fresh ground Black Pepper
    Several Drops Lime Juice
    Several Drops Favorite Hot Sauce
    Some Small Capers (optional)

    PROCEDURE:

    1. Mix the chopped fish with the milk and set in refrigerator for 30 minutes, remove and drain, but do not rinse.

    2. Mix all the other ingredients with a hand mixer and add the drained fish at the end.

    Recipe Type: Appetizer, Seafood
