Flared a small piece of 3/8 inch copper, broke the flare to match the angle of the channel easy peazy

Nice.  Could you easily explain how you flared the pipe?  (Maybe this is a dumb question, but I have only dabbled in soldering copper pipe only to give up and call a professional.)  Alternatively, how much would you sell one of those for?  I recently built my BS into an outdoor kitchen counter and I'm still hacking at a decent drain solution since I couldn't hang the stock drip pan as is.
