I love the Grill Grates but can't figure out how to clean between the grooves easily. Ball of tin foil kind of works but is a bit of a pain in the arse.

They can be cleaned with the custom spatula they offer or a two pronged brush that's available.

The only cleaning utensil I saw had the steel wires...I am paranoid now that I picked a steel wire off of some food recently and reading the horror stories on the interweb.

That only happens with certain types of wire brushes. This one is closer to a Brillo pad than the traditional wire brush. I have personally seen a bristle on my cooking grid so I get it. The real danger is from brushes designed like hair brushes, not they twisted wire type. That said, if you don't use a wire product you will never have wire on your grate. I have no apprehension about these type of brushes.

Yeah....steak has been on my diet several times. I even have a baked tater (plain) with my asparagus. Are you also exercising? I am walking about 4 miles a day (outside of normal movement).

  • I just don't see the need for the grill mates. What am I missing?
almost nothing is a real necessity. They amplify the temps on any cooker which allows you to sear better at a lower dome temp. This conserves lump and makes it easier to cook multiple items while maintaining  a reasonable temp. Hey work as advertised as far as I can see. I like em. I haven't turned them over to use as griddle yet, but I'm going to soon.

    Thanks for the info.

I'll probably get around to picking up some grill mates but other excessories will have higher as I have a CharBroil InfraRed gasser I use for searing.
