It does but there's a brief learning curve.  The real beauty of it is how easy it is to have variable cooking zones.  Perfect for fried rice and fajitas.  It's a real workhorse for me and I'm glad I got it.  
Given the above, if it's windy that alters the dynamics with edges in the wind being cooler.  No big deal, just a part of the learning curve.
