Even though I'm aware that this was in jest, my buddies brother used to put steak on the gasser, get stoned or drunk and pass out and forget about it. Sometimes burning, sometimes after he turned it off and took some. 

My friend often found either rotten mouldy meat or a lump of carbon and an empty gas tank.

And once in University we discovered that there was no snow on the bbq even though there was lots of snow in February. 

Turns out it had been left on low since we had used it last - in November. 

Thank goodness natural gas was included in our rent.
