Whiskey Sour Recipe - Give it a Try!

Started making whiskey sours at home last week and have been really pleased with the results. It's a fairly simple drink that requires only household ingredients. Recipe below.
Pour the following ingredients in a shaker.
Pour the following ingredients in a shaker.
- 1oz lemon (approx. one half lemon)
- 2oz bourbon (rye is also good)
- 3/4oz heavy simple syrup ("heavy" means 2:1 sugar to water. To make at home, boil one cup water and then stir in 2 cups of sugar. Allow syrup to cool.)
- 1 egg white
Shake above ingredients vigorously in the shaker. (This is to break up the egg for a velvety texture.)
Add ice to shaker and shake vigorously once again.
Serve over ice with a fruit garnish.
The result is a well-balanced drink that is simultaneously sweet, sour and refreshing. The egg white gives the drink a beautifully creamy texture. This homemade version is entirely consistent with those I've had in some of my city's best restaurants.
You can tweak the recipe to your taste. My wife prefers a little less bourbon in hers.
If you decide to try it, please let me know what you think!

I like Whiskey Sours. Yours is a solid recipe, and your technique is right on. The only thing I would add would be to prechill your glass with ice and some water and let it sit for a few minutes. Dump the ice water right before you add the cocktail. Helps keep it cold without watering it down with ice.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO A WHISKEY?!??

You prefer is straight? Last week, a friend and I tailgated before a Travis Tritt concert. At the tailgate, we mixed bourbon with Hardee's Sweet Tea and lemon. During the concert, we sipped it straight from the flask. It was good both ways. Don't be hatin' a bourbon cocktail! Many ways to enjoy the brown liquor.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Haha, In just giving ya grief. I was a bartender for many years, I have poured drinks more deserving of a scarlet letter than this concoction.
Just ice for me. (Add lemon and honey if sick)
I prefer my mixed cocktails with clear liquors."Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

Try substituting maple syrup for the simple syrup.
And no, I am not a Canadian. -
Nice. I love a whiskey sour. Like to make them with Bulleit."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I make these all the time - close to the same recipe too, but a little less sugar. I usually strain the ice before putting it into the glass (i.e. no rocks). I don't garnish, but I do add a dash or two of Angostura to the top.
bourbon cocktails are the best -

My rule is simple for mixing is simple - always mix with the cheap stuff (and save the good stuff for sipping straight!). -
