Fun Italian cook for a Sunday afternoon
One of my favorites my mom used to make was Braciole. Thin sliced beef stuffed with goodies and simmered in a batch of homemade Gravy. I had my local butcher shop thin slice some top sirloin a couple days ago. Used some for cheese steaks and made some of these with the rest.

These are garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, Italian bread crumbs and spinach

Then on the blackstone to brown them. I could have used the egg, but was in a hurry and didn't want to wait to get it up to temp.
-
Now they simmer in their bath of homemade red sauce for a couple hours.

Looking good so far, how are you going to cook them?Dave

DIL is Italian, her Mom makes a similar dish, the "cutlets" as she calls the thin sliced meat can be done with pork as well, I prefer the beef stuffed with a hot giardinara (sp?). Never thought of using the flat top, always done in the electric skillet to brown and then add the sauce.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I love Italian cooking . Some day I will make it to the mother land just to eat everyday! My mom is 83 and says these are too much work any more. I will bring her one tonight and see if they meet her approval!!

Love braciole! It's one of my go to dishes for folks. I really like how the browned beef juice and bits get in the the "gravy." I'm just a WASP, but feel like an old nonna when I make it. Yours looks killer!Lovin' my Large Egg since May 2012 (Richmond, VA) ... and makin' cookbooks at https://FamilyCookbookProject.com

Come Spring (it is cold here in CT) I am going to teach my Nephew how to make a nice Italian "Sunday Gravy". Of course we will be making meatballs, beef bracciole and pork sausages for the occasion. I may add a couple of pork skin braccioles to the mix for good measure. And some pork meat of some sort as well. Gonna take most of the day and I will have some old Italian-American tunes playing in the background. Louis Prima. Dean Martin. Lou Monte. Hoping my Blackstone works well for browning the meats. I think it will be a good tool and really speed the process. I will record the occasion in pics/thread. Too bad my Father will not be able to join in the fun. His passing means us three generations will not cook together again. But we must keep the family traditions going!
