@Foghorn - OK, now I know I have seen you breakdancing in the parade..... Those suits are "10 degrees hotter than two bunnies farking in a wool sock" (as my old boss would say....
Later on in the mid-90's I got to work for a cheerleading company that did events at The Happiest Place and saw a lot of behind the scenes "activity"; none involving your character to my recollection.

@DaveRichardson, I was there from 1979-1990. The inside of a bear costume would get over 140 during the afternoon parade. It was a great way to stay in shape.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

I can't even imagine that. We went in July once, many years ago and it was so blazing hot we spent most of the time looking for indoor escapes from the heat and humidity. I wouldn't last five minutes in a bear costume. Bet it got to smelling nice. How often did those things get cleaned?Foghorn said:DaveRichardson said:@Foghorn - OK, now I know I have seen you breakdancing in the parade..... The lining of the costume got dried out every day and cleaned once a week.
One summer day just before the parade I was backstage in a Br'er Bear costume that was mostly on with the head/neck portion tilted back and I had a conversation with one of our choreographers. Needless to say in that heat I was already sweating. As we finished up the conversation and she went to walk away, she fell over because the heal of her shoe had sunk into the asphalt. I helped her up and a few minutes later I pulled the top of the costume over my head and buckled up and went out on the parade route dancing - all the while thinking that there was something wrong with the picture. Doing that work on a day when the asphalt was melting just didn't seem like the smartest thing I've ever done. But it probably wasn't any worse than any other summer parades I did over 11 years there.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle
