Christmas Decorations....finally all put back into the attic....but
I have two questions. (1) Did my discussion of cutting back lead directly to the opposite occurring? Am I the only one who speaks and it not only falls on deaf ears....but grew substantially. Do I need therapy? Gee....can't wait till next year.
Well, I married me a wife, she's been trouble all my life,

This does not include Xmas tree and a few wreaths that are purchased annually. Well after a week of packing and finally getting the last of it stored.....we had to purchase these two very larg (red) containers to round out the process this year.

I feel your pain! I think back when I was a working stiff of how I spent every weekend starting the first of December hauling boxes of decorations up from our basement and putting them up risking life and limb on ladders. Also the inside of our home was decorated to the hilt including a 6 foot diameter flocked wreath that I had to place on our fireplace inside using a 24 foot extension ladder which was a bear to get inside the front door! Then come January I would reverse the process. As I got older I started cutting back and now a 2' wreath on the front door is the extent of the "outdoor decorations" and no huge inside fireplace wreath!
Also after last Christmas I practically broke my neck carrying our 3 piece 9 foot artificial tree up from the basement. So what I did last January was throw out that heavy, awkward third bottom section and this year only put up the top two sections giving us a nice manageable 6.5 foot tree. It saved me so much grief and my wife is so pleased as well! -
My wife's decorations continue to grow every year, I think the only chance I have of stopping this is to move to a house without a basement...._________________________________________________Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!Large BGE 2006, Mini Max 2014, 36" Blackstone, Anova Sous Vide

Bought some storage racks at Costco today to get the basement organized. Thought the Christmas stuff would take up one shelf... OOPS. -
We had mild weather here in the 40's on Dec 26th so all outdoor decor was removed &put away. We were the first on our block to do so. Sadly, we're still working on putting away the indoor decore. Our tree is still up.Flint, Michigan

I am LITERALLY reframing the attic (ceiling joists) to accommodate the wife's Xmas decorations
House is pushing 100yrs old. 2x6 celing joists at 24" o/c.
Horsehair plaster ceilings can't handle fifty bins of stuff. -
You guys are making me miss attics and basements. All my stuff is in the garage.

Haha I actually am thankful the efforts my wife puts in to decorating the house for the different seasons. That doesn't mean I like going up and down out of the attic. Our last house had a walk in attic from the bonus room which was very handy.
Now I've got the season organized so I can just pull her the boxes out. My mom never decorated like this. And all my wife requires of me is moving the boxes. I think it really makes the house feel like a home and am thankful she enjoys it. However, our collect does grow every year, especially now with a hobby lobby in our town._______________________________________________XLBGE -

Or just be scourges and don't have any decorations. All though that will be changing next year as our daughter will be old enough to enjoy them so I'm sure my wife will be buying all kinds of crap.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

I put up 2 8'x4' over the garage door shelves for our decorations. So much easier than lugging them into the attic and each is 600lb rated.

Good grief Robin. Clark W Griswold only used 20 bins to decorate on Christmas vacation!!!!! Good luck!
-
I had two Rubbermaid containers and two ornament containers and I thought I had it rough.
Thankfully my wife doesn't go crazy with decorations. She's simple and I like it.
I'm going to go kiss her now right square on the lips and a pat on tukhus.------------------------------

I don't like hauling all the bins from the basement. But, my wife makes the house look beautiful every Christmas. And, it makes her happy.

I have a small ceramic toboggan, with four bears on it wearing Santa hats, that I take out of a small box in my hallway closet and set on my hall table, takes 35 seconds. That's it.
This year, I forgot to put it out, so I didn't have to put it away.

My office, however, has had my Charlie Brown Christmas tree and Jets stocking up for three years straight - no sense in breaking with tradition and taking them down now! LOLTwo Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

Wife and I put up a tree this year, and didn't decorate it at all. Couldn't be bothered. It was quite freeing.

And my husband gripes when I ask him to get 1 or 2 bins down for me! LOL And he's never put lights outside either...
You have a lucky wife!2 Large BGE, MiniMax, Miami, FL -
My / our bins are sitting here by my desk waiting to go back into the attic. I need a basement!
I used to go all out and line the gutters with lights, a clip on each light so there was no sagging.... until we had a patient who did the same thing come in now wheelchair bound from a spinal fracture from a fall. Yes, I still do stoopid things on ladders like pulling out the dining room table, placing the chairs on the table, then the A-frame ladder on the chairs so I could replace a ceiling fan..... I think I'll pay someone next time!
Good thing is, I always make sure that someone I like is on-call at the local ER when I do stoopid things like that!!!
