Interesting grill. They're comparing it directly to a large BGE too.

Interesting. I don't see any mention of an indirect diffuser, so the only way to use it as a smoker would be similar to a weber kettle or a gasser where you only light charcoal on one side.  I think this would have less capacity than an egg for indirect cooking.

Honestly I don't see any advantages of this over a weber kettle or the old PK grill. I certainly don't see $900 worth of features. I could be missing something.

I think the Weber kettle-moto was much closer to hitting the mark except they priced it way to high IMO.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I like the vent system. Looks like a Ferrari intake, but curious how well it works after several years of ash.

I also don't see any mention of it being insulated.  I think this thing would eat charcoal.  I don't mean to jump in and bash this but it just seems to me some marking person decided to call this a "smoker" without doing any research into what makes a good smoker.

Agree with @SmokeyPitt; smoker maybe not, but I'm betting it'll be a very nice grill.  Plus I like the '50-60s styling. No way I'd give $900 for it though.

Will the aluminum stand up to lump charcoal heat? I didn't see any mention of fuel choices...

I kept thinking the same thing when I saw it, it just looks like a Webber kettle.  Why pay 900 for something that won't be any better than a $150 Webber kettle?

That is the PK grill company's whole schtick - that 50's retro look. Their other grill, the cleverly named "PK Grill", looks the same as when it was first made 50+ years ago.

I burned through my Weber Genesis cast aluminum firebox.  I do not think cast aluminum will make an heirloom  charcoal grill.

Wow. Did you have a few massive grease fires? That is not easy to accomplish, given the design and location of the burners. Wow! Hopefully there wasn't a bad fire as a result.

The original PK Grills last for decades so I see no reason their new 360 would be any different.

    PKs have always intrigued me.
Solid retro design.  There are many 50 plus old PKs still out there going strong.  Webers will rust.  Even covered, sheltered ones.  But then again, a silver can be had for 100 bucks.

    Pros...

    Made in AR

I like the portability and real estate, shelves, pedestal, well thought out for the outdoor grilling on the go types.  Have lost a kettle out of the bed of my truck on the 74 bridge here, it sucked.  This could be easily broke down for travel, including taking the pedestal with you.

Location of teltru for more accurate temps

    Two-zone cooking

    Cons...
Ash removal, lots of nooks and crannies with the manifold like shape.

I need another grill like another hole in my head, but PK is worth a serious look.  Although I'm in the minority here, it looks like they've improved an already classic design.  I applaud them.  BGE take note.

Yes, I had few grease fires over the years.  Nothing that damaged anything beyond my grill and ego.  I think perhaps a rusted through burner may have helped by directing flame at the wall.

Either way Weber sent me brand new firebox and all the hardware after I sent them a few pics.  Great company.

Ah. I never thought about the burner having a hole in the bottom. That was prolly the culprit combined with some grease. I agree, they are second to none as a company. Good luck with the house thingy too.

I have the regular PK grill.
It's a fantastic addition to any patio, the only weakness it has is the poor quality nickel plated cooking grid. It's near impossible to keep it from rusting.
The manufacture has released a new stainless grid as an accessory. It's priced at around $80. That's at least double what it should sell for.

I do find that I use the PK more often than I use the egg. It excels at grilling steaks due to the close distance between the charcoal and the cooking grid. It's only an inch or so distance from the steaks to the charcoal. After a proper sear the steaks can be moved to the other end of the PK for indirect finish. Or you can do the other way if you prefer a reverse sear. Nice and easy versatility.

I would expect the new PK 360 to be just as good, with the added bonus that it comes with a stainless cooking grid.

    Well they succeeded then.

probably a good grill but I prefer to be the only ugly thing around when I am cooking.

Cool grill and comparison, but isn't he 100% wrong on the bge warranty?

I actually had a chance on cook on a PK while staying at a lodge in Montana.  They said it's been there since the 50's.  I was pretty impressed.  Thing is a tank and the 4 locations of air intakes/exhaust make it pretty versatile. In no way am I comparing it to ceramic.  Starting the cook I wasn't expecting much but was floored after the weekend.
