Minute a side on hot cast iron. All I got. Anytime I try to bake it it comes out too dry.
-
I've never done this on the egg, but it is delicious. Grab a CI pan and give it a try. I've always left out the avocado and served with rice and maybe some sautéed asparagus. Keep meaning to try the avocado though.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I got super hot 700*+ for about 90 seconds per side. Then choke it back to 550 or so and do a clean burn since I was already hot.VA Beach

Thanks for the suggestion! I have the wood stove burning in the basement, cold beer in the refrigerator and I can't wait to cook the tuna. And the snow has started falling! It's a good day in North Carolina.

Sorry guys. Auto correct is wearing me out today. (Suggestions)

Depending on thickness no more than 2 min/side. Cedar planking is always a good tasting method. Cook until 'white' sides nearly touch, remove. Do not overcook or dryness will ensue.Hood Stars, Wrist Crowns and Obsession Dobs!

CI, hot (I think I did it around 500F), a little oil, 90 seconds per side.
Costco Tuna (the texture and color aren't great)
Plated Tuna from a local butcher - Grade 2+ (same cooking method though)

Excuse my ADD, but look at the size of this lump charcoal! This chunk came out of the bag while adding charcoal for the tuna steaks.
-
Will vegetable oil work in place of canola oil in the CI skillet? I haven't used a CI on the Egg before.
-
I used a little toasted sesame oil.
I think sesame oil has a higher smoke pointNorthern Virginia

Show it to the egg. Take inside and carve it into bite sized chunks and enjoy with soy sauce and wasabi.
-
@ToTheMax thank you.

Vegetable oil should be fine. The smoke point of veggie and canola is about the same. I think canola is a little more neutral tasting but veggie will work fine.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -

Rub some wasabi mixed with soy sauce on it and dredge in white and black sesame seeds. Sear on a cast iron pan really hot for a few seconds a side.

Looks good- faster is better for cooking. Tuna gets very dry if over cooked.Greensboro, NC

Overcooked.....90 seconds per side at 450 CI. Still delicious!

-
Just a quick season and blacken. Maybe 20-30 seconds per side for me. HOT.
-
Just picked up some tuna steaks from Sam’s Club. I’ve never made tuna steaks before, but wanted to give them a shot. Hot and fast is the method from what I’m reading. Could you marinade in a soy sauce mixture before grilling?
-
Yes @Jcl5150. That works well.
