Those are frowned upon below the Mason Dixon Line.

A friend bought one made by Philips a year or two ago and it works well. The price has come down quite a bit since then. However, capacity is pretty limited, so may be less useful if cooking for many.

@caliking. I love wings on the egg but sometimes it's just easier to do it quick inside - I know blasphemy.
however I just say a video on them and was thinking the same thing you mentioned, to fry without the oil sounds interesting.
@DoubleEgger. Luckily I live north of the Mason-Dixon Line then, don't need my neighbors looking down on me at church.Large BGE - McDonald, PA -
I just received one as a Christmas gift. Without exception, THE best fried chicken I have ever had! I will probably never egg chicken parts again. Unless serving a group or cooking whole bird.
French fries are excellent too. Not as good as deep fried, but very good. And hardly any oil needed. Haven't tried anything else yet.
And why would anyone care about opinions south of Maryland?I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Dont have one but i guess its on saleThe Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. My sister has one and loves it. Crispy fries. They are 'healthy eaters'.

What is the difference between these "air fryers" and a convection oven?

No experience with air fryer, but if I may digress... picked up an older model halogen oven from thrift store, missing rack and glass bowl bottom, it has never been used and price is right, about $5-$6 CAD!
An old wok fits perfectly as bottom. Haven't played much with it yet, so far tried sweet potato fries, reheating fried food, it sure is a fun toy! With the extension collar should have no problem roasting a big bird.
turned sous vide turkey skin into crackling easily...

Dear Folks,
How To Cook Alexia Sweet Potato Fries In The Air Fryer Thinking of making some fried chicken wings and French fries but have always been concerned about the amount of oil used in conventional cooking.
I was looking at some youtube videos and was quite amazed at the little amount of oil used in the air fryer.
Has anyone used this before? Would appreciate it if you could share your experience.
Would the food be crispy? I am particularly interested in making fried chicken and pomfret. Is this machine good?
