Happy New Year all, I did this last year for a trip and got some great recommendations, I was hoping you all could help again. I am headed to Steamboat early March and was curious if anyone had a recommendation on restaurants? We are looking for one upscale dinner and the rest just casual eating. Thanks

One tip you may or may not know is the city of Steamboat springs is a short drive or bus ride away from the ski resort. There are some restaurants in the ski resort village but most of them are "meh". This is the one I liked the best:

In the city of Steamboat Springs I ate at a few casual places and they were all good. This is the one I remember the most:

It is just a casual pizza joint but the pizza was really good and the prices were very reasonable especially when they are having specials.
I didn't do any fine dining, but I would definitely look in the city and not the village. Like most resorts, in the village you pay fine dining prices for Applebee's grade fare!Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
When I lived in Colorado, I got our two lab pups from Steamboat Springs. We got snowed in right before ski season started so the place was deserted. My wife and I mostly hung out at the hotel waiting on the pass to clear to get back home...but we had the bartender swear we needed to check out a place called Mahogany Ridge Brewery.
It was solid. The beer was ok *(I had been spoiled living in microbrew heaven, if I went back now I would probably be impressed) but I distinctly remember eating some buffalo sausage app that was killer.
I hope the weather holds out over Rabbit's Ear Pass. Weather can be brutal that time of year and I think it's the only way over if you're flying in from Denver."Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

Stayed there for a week or so and had some epic meals. You can bounce around that town and find a lot...
Creekside Cafe & Grill - killer breakfast and coffee shop. Also have a full bar so set yourself up with a bloody mary. The Huevos Rancheros with the green chili sauce was epic.
Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill - We ended up eating here 3 times. Everything was great. It's a mid-range restaurant...not fine dining, not a diner. Just perfect whether you eat at the bar or get table service. Steak, wild game, seafood, bar food. All good. I think we also ended up here a lot because the kitchen stayed open late. We tend to do a long apres ski in the hot tub, clean up, and then eat late.
We also went out to a "fancy" meal at the E3 Chophouse, but the service and food quality did not live up to the hype. Great bar though, go for happy hour.
I haven't been there for a couple years so service/owners could have changed, but I can't see those two being bad choices. Look 'em up and see how the reviews are.

New Brewery opened up not to long ago Mountain Tap Brewery if you are familiar with Kona brewery it is the same master brewer. If I remember correctly they serve pizza and Italian type food.

Slopeside, Carl's, Aurum's, scratch, creekside Winona's all are pretty good. There is a BBQ joint there, can't remember the name, not great, but, not terrible. Wine list: Harwigs feeble french food. Salt and Lime was pretty good, and Cafe Diva was actually pretty good."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Hit the slopes. It's been many years since I skied at Steamboat but if memory serves me correct the clubhouse had pretty decent food.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

We also did a day with Steamboat Powdercats, which was a solid operation. If you guys enjoy deep powder and the resort conditions are not delivering, give them a call. It was a pretty epic day.

@YukonRon I believe we have narrowed it down to Aurum and Cafe Diva. Also, thank you all for the recommendations.Birmingham, AL

I can tell you where NOT to eat nearby. Hot Sulphur Springs, and a seedy little Mexican restaurant. Just made it to Steamboat, if you know what I mean.
