Johnny Lang used to play at one of my college hangouts in Fargo back around 1993 to 1995 or so when he was known as Kid Johnny Lang. I think he was 14 years old or so, but if you closed your eyes you would swear he was a grizzled blues guitarist decades older, in playing ability and voice. I listened to this incessantly for about 3 years. Just putting it on right now. On a good stereo in sounds like Stevie is right there in front of you. From the beautiful slow burns of Abraxas, to Ride The Lightning, I love it all.
But there is only "One" that rises, to burn your face upon the green egg dome. The last 150 seconds is purely blisstering.
But Kirk's( aka Zeus of the Thunder Gods) Fade to Black is, without a doubt, right up there. Awesome intro and outro. The outro never ends, and fades with Kirk still hammerin'...brilliant work.
For Whom The Bell Tolls, is our hockey teams entrance song, they loop it...gets the beers and blood flowin' at the QC Mallards "pond".
One solo, or a song that's a solo, doesn't quite tickle the fancy. But an entire album, or multiple albums, that are solo..after solo..after solo? Hell yes!

Hunter and Wagner. I saw them with Lou on the next tour, the "Sally Can't Dance" tour, they opened the same way, the riffs were evolved some but the same majestic triumph. ...and Mark King of Level 42. Mark is in the studio with a "supergroup" (can't remember their name) that includes guitarist Adrian Belew (Zappa, Talking Heads, King Crimson) drummer Stu Copeland (The Police) and a keyboardist whom I don't recognize. Anxious to hear that one when released!
