Was asked to make chili at 1630, for a boss' day potluck the following day. Ran to Hy-Vee, grabbed everything on my way home around 2000. Had a small can of chipotle in adobo not pictured. Had to dig deep in my freezer, for my last documented brisket cook. Figured we are in the perfect place if I get everyone sick. And we are CNAs, RNs, MDs....strong immune systems.
Prepped and rolling in 50 minutes.
Overheated my Vitamix with the beans, it shut down, didn't use 2 of the cans.
Simmered for a couple of hours, finally crashed at 0000. Up at 0500 for another 12.

Sometimes, the littlest things make you smile, and appreciate the hell out of your co-workers.

They were hitting me up on voicera,"B, we're all diggin' your chili!"
Was also getting stopped at the station, and hall by more peeps. Even had somebody say they could smell it when they stepped off the elevator, and had to get some.
Didn't have the heart to tell em the meat was egged 3 years ago. lol
But, I came through and delivered for 21 bucks, while clearing some freezer space. And nobody got sick, or died, that I'm aware of. And I got a nice hug from my rockstar bosslady.

Had an out of body culinary experience with Chloe's chocolate chip cookies and a carton of whole milk. She was a little hesitant when asked for the recipe. I will continue to pry.

Thanks fer lookin'.

Nice post. Thanks! Good lookin' chili too!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Thanks bud, it was a good day. Had a farmer, shake my hand and my students, about squeezing it off, choking up, with a tear rolling down his cheek after we loaded his dad in their vehicle at discharge. As we were walking back in with the wheelchair, "That my friend, is why we do what we do." So glad he got to experience that moment.Carolina Q said:Nice post. Thanks! @Focker You have point from 2013 still?! No way that would survive a month let alone three years in my freezer!
Chili looks awesome, and the coffee "timer" made me chuckle too?..Large BGE - McDonald, PA -
That is meat drippings to add some smokey flavor, learned that trick from Alton Brown.SaintJohnsEgger said:What's that in the ice tray?

That old meat chili looks pretty good Focker. I'd risk a bowl for breakfast.
