Nothing fancy... easy cast iron pizza

this is one of my favorite fall weekend cooks. Nothing fancy but it hits the spot. Egg is set up for indirect cooking, around 400 degrees.
dough is storebought, at room temp. CI pan needs a wipe of oil if it's not still greasy from the last cook. Dough gets pressed out into the cast iron. Today, pepperoni for topping, which I found in the living room. Damn kids - why was a bag of pepperoni in there? How long was it there for???
that goes on the egg for about 15 minutes. Cheese goes on later, otherwise the crust doesn't cook enough before the cheese starts to burn. The crust comes out crispy on the bottom but also thick and chewy. Total cook time is about 40 minutes and the pie gets some nice charcoal smoky flavor.
Go cubs!!

@VB_egger if hormel mini pepperoni is fancy, then yes, i am very fancy! i'm guessing somewhere on the label it says something like "pepperoni flavored meat product"

nice!
I especially love the part about the pepperoni in the living room. I keep finding kitchen stuff in my toddler's room - cutting boards, basting brush, spatula, etc. He likes to hold some of those things and sleep. Haven't figured out why.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
