Kirkland Whole Chickens

I picked up a few Kirkland brand fryers last time through Costco. Made the first one tonight and I was really surprised by the quality. There was very little fat, no feather shafts, and no bruising. So much better than the big P. Tasted good too

  • I love Costco and the Kirkland brand is excellent. Last two whole organic chickens I picked up were foul, pun intended. The stench nearly knocked me on my can. Think I am ruined for life.

I get all my whole chickens at Costco and have had nothing but solid results.
Just bought an Egg?  Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night.  Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

The chicken looks awesome. I have not tried it yet, because I have been buying ribs, brisket, sockeye, rib caps, whole renderloins, ......etc., but I will.

Thanks! We've been trying many Kirkland meat and household products. We like most of them.

which chickens are you buying - they usually have two type of whole chickens, the regular ones and the organic ones.  I've never bought, but have thought about it.  I do get their wings and have tried the organic ones and the regular ones - easy to overcook the organic ones from what I've experienced, skinnier maybe.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

The regular ones. There's a note on the package that says "no salt added." I assume that means they don't inject brine to increase weight. If that's correct then brining a whole bird the day before will make it less likely to dry out during cooking. But I like to air-dry the bird so I don't brine if I'm cooking whole.
