Big Green Eggs Helped Us Survive The Hurricane

I am so thankful for our Big Green Eggs as they helped us survive the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in St. Augustine, FL.  We lost power for some 30+ hours in our neighborhood, but luckily there wasn't devastating damage, just some lost food, a few shingles and downed trees.  We were able to reheat meals we prepared in advanced, cook new meals and cook for neighbors that were hungry.  The Mini Max performed well for reheating pre-storm prepared meals, breakfast, beans and whatever else we put in a pot or pan.  It heats up to temp so quickly, that we didn't even consider using a propane stove.

On Saturday, my next door neighbor brought over his Large egg and all the other neighbors brought their food that was going to go bad.  We grilled up about 4 trays worth of food to help feed around 10 families.  We had an unbelievable spread (Beef Ribs [cooked all day], Pork Steaks, Strip Steaks, Pork Ribs, Chicken Quarters, Chicken Thighs, Chicken Breasts, Kielbasa, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Shrimp, Scallops, Asparagus, Zucchini, Black Beans and Baked Beans).  These three babies performed beautifully all day and everything came out delicious.

After we ate, we heard that the local fire department had no food.  They were out all day performing rescues and had planned on going to Publix (local grocery store), but it had closed early since they were on limited power with a generator.  We gladly brought them a few trays of food to help out.  It was nice to see our community come together and support each other in any way we could!

P.S.:
Karma must've helped because right after we brought them food, the power came back on.
