Before I go into my story I have to explain what went on earlier this week. My buddy sent me this picture text (below) on Monday or Tuesday and said we are going to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho on the motorcycles next month. Not a question but more of a statement.

How can I say no after seeing roads like that for riding. So I say to my wife, "I guess I'm taking the motorcycle out to Idaho to ride in the mountains next month." Her response, "Oh that's awesome! That will be fun. Just let me know the dates." Sweet!!!

When I was about to leave the house this evening I see the UPS truck pull up at the end of the driveway. I didn't think much as my wife mentioned that she had a package coming. Next thing I know I see the UPS worker coming up the driveway between cars with a dolly and big package. So I think to myself, "what the hell did she buy that needed a two wheel dolly to move it?" So I yell up to my wife that the UPS driver was coming up to the door and that she'll probably need to sign for it. So my wife answers the door and I continue to put my shoes on. The delivery guy says, "do you want me to put this on your back deck or in the garage?" I thought "oh crap, it needs to go through the deck doors to fit inside the house?" So I thought I better just open the garage door so I can get the delivery guy on his way and my wife and I can figure out how to get her package inside the house later. As I see the garage door open I see the delivery guy wheeling in a BLACKSTONE GRIDDLE!!! Whoa, what??? Confused as ever the delivery guy goes, "you think you have enough toys now?" He must have seen the eggs scattered in the garage. I'm not sure if I even answered. I didn't order any Blackstone griddle. I mentioned maybe something about the 28" griddle on Groupon in the past to my wife but now I see a 36" griddle in the garage. Huh???? I turn around and see my wife smiling in the entryway!

Sweet!!!!! Sorry guys she's taken! Wouldn't trade her for the world!

Better to be lucky than good any day.  You definitely have a keeper-and the green light for the ride.  Paybacks can be expensive but worth it here.  Most eggcellent.  Would that I were so fortunate.

I have no idea what your wife looks like but i can see her standing there in the doorway, arms crossed, legs crossed, leaning against the doorway, smiling ear to ear.

I have a slightly different story. Tonight at Target I came across a Weber Original 18" kettle marked down to $24. $24, brand new in box, how could I not? Wife says, no you really don't need another grill, you have like 8 others at home. I corrected her that it was actually 10 and that sealed my fate. Grill did not come home with me...

You win, nice score, both the griddle and the wife.

@DMW - key to success, never go shopping with SWMBO.  Always better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.  ButI don't have a sub-conscious with 10 outdoor cookers wrestling with the right answer ;)

Now trying to track down a propane tank so I can season it. Never imagined I'd be in search of a propane tank! (Left a shelf off to save some room in the garage for winter use) Getting there....

  • So what does one cook on one of these that you would not just do indoors?  Does it somehow create different flavors, or is it just about being able to make  omelets outdoors?

2+ # of bacon at one time. A whole bunch of smash burgers. An entire breakfast of bacon eggs and pancakes. Fried rice, etc...

It will come in handy when guests come over or when the neighbors get together. The other thing I hate is cleaning a freakin stove. The griddle could be a pain to clean but I'd much rather clean something that is flat and open. I hate a nasty crusty looking stove. This should help. The possibilities on this are endless compared to the limited space on a stove. In all honesty this thing will be legit for tailgating

  • I am getting closer and closer to  redesigning my kitchen to have nothing but an industrial size Sink, Dishwasher and a Refrigerator.  Replace the oven and stove with a cool looking wine fridge on the bottom and a kegerator on the top and just do all the cooking OUTSIDE with all the toys I am learning about around here!
