What is the difference between the Flameboss 200 and the Stoker WiFi II

ok, just googled it and it seems like the Flameboss is a simpler non-expandable system. If I do order something its likely to be the Flameboss, simple gadgets are best (assuming you have to have gadgets!)

Not sure about probes on the FB, but with the Stoker and the adapter, any Type K will work.  Since I have Thermopens, all those probes work on my Stoker.  As for configuration, I just went to the Stoker interface website, entered my WiFi info and rebooted and I was up and running.  Which one is cheaper?  I'm assuming the FB but just curious.

@flyerdoc ... the Flameboss 200 has a 12 volt wall wart that comes standard with the unit.  You can purchase a rechargeable battery pack from Flameboss - https://www.flameboss.com/battery_1 - or one off the internet.

All of the "in production" electronic controllers use a blower motor.  SmoBot is the only electronic controller that modulates the exhaust vent to control temps ... but, it's in the test and development phase so is not available yet.

You have to "learn" the correct daisy wheel setting for each egg and each pit temperature.  It's not a big deal, simply adjust the daisy wheel until the fan runs at about 25% and you're golden.  That's my recommended percent, others are successful with different settings. @stlcharcoal likes to run his fan down around 10% ... @blind99 ran his last cook (see above) with the fan setting idle for most of the time.

Here's another approach to controlling the exhaust setting that has worked well for me:  http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1194766/fixed-venting-with-a-blower-control/p1

Do check with @stlcharcoal before you buy ... he doesn't advertise, but sells controllers at a good price.

OK, lets take the Flameboss 200 for instance...does it run on batteries or do you need to plug it in? Also, using this gadget, it has the controller, wifi enabled...I like that, and a fan etc. However, I assume it does not control the daisy wheel, so that is something you make a guess at for the cook?
The FB has a wall wart power supply. You set the daisy wheel open just cracked - about the width of a dime or so. It comes with an illustration of where to set the daisy wheel. The first time I used mine was in a blizzard, and it help temp within 2 or 3 degrees the entire cook.....while I stayed warm in the house and monitored the cook on my phone.

Just thinkin' ... sometimes we post about a gadget we don't need but deep down we just want people to talk us into buying the new gadget ;).

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

the original guru was so much easier, just a  spring that opens and closes the vent.  no cables to burn, no electronics to fail, no satellites involved, just set it and forget it =)
