Nice idea, not for me. I like my beef corn fed. If that makes me a bad guy, I'm ok with it. I do like the fee range chicken and heritage pork though.

    Interesting but seems expensive.

Does seem a bit pricey but then I have never bothered to shop around locally for that same type of product.

I always assume these kind of mail order services charge a premium. Just don't know if they are charging an outrageous premium. :)

  • I have plenty of local access to great beef, very lucky.  I want to start buying beef by the 1/4 or 1/2 from local producers.

My wife got an email from them, so they're aggressively trying to grow, as they promise "free bacon for life" - or as long as you're getting your monthly box o' beef.

10 oz steaks - both ribeye and strips, seems like a small steak to me, and they're calculating $6 per meal.

Here's what is in a typical mixed meat box:

    GROUND BEEF - 2x1lb

    NY STRIP - 2x10oz

    TOP SIRLOIN - 4x6oz

    WHOLE PORK TENDERLOIN - 1lb

BONELESS SKINLESS CHICKEN BREAST - 3x1lb

*EXACT CUTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

I think I'd be unhappy with a $130 monthly delivery of meat that will last about a week.

I'm inclined to concur with this. Looking at the posted list, I could eat that in one day if I took a notion.

I'll stick with the family tradition of ordering a full beef, letting it hang for a week then having the butcher cut to choice and wrap for us at just under $3 a pound.  My grandfather was a federal meat inspector so I don't know of any other way. he'd roll in his grave if he heard of people getting a box of meat delivered monthly.

Too many great options in my area for any meat you would want. I can place an order for pastured, grass-fed beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and turkey. They use to have duck too, guess it wasnt a big seller. The pork is tamworth hogs and delicious. Online order go to the farmers market and pickup. All these mail box order things i feel are a trend and unsustainable in the long run. The premium is too high. People in my neighborhood area always trying to sell their blue apron deliveries they dont want at a discount.

So the box mentioned above is 130 bucks, here is what i can get from a farm an hour away for 110.

Each sampler pack will contain: 1 package of Pork Chops, 1 package of Bratwurst, 1 pound Mild Sausage, 1 pound Hot Sausage, 3 pounds Ground Beef, 1 package Bacon, 1 Beef Shoulder Roast, 2 packages of Premium Steaks,1 Whole Chicken & 1 Complimentary Handmade Bath Soap.  This sampler pack will weigh about 16 to 18 pounds.

Even if you go with their steak size - 10 ounce steak = one meal.

11 lbs of meat is, at the high end, 176 ounces - or 17.6 steaks. Not even close to the 28 meals they claim.

Here's a dozen 10 ounce strips for $150 with no monthly commitment.

not that place but ive been thinking about weekly deliveries from a nearby farm. milk in the old glass bottles done on site, meat grown on their farm and locally. they set you up with a cold box, 4.25 for delivery if the delivery is 15.01 or higher. you set up a weekly order and if you want something added you can place that the day before. i need to go see the meats, used to get the milk deliveries years ago, the chocolate they have is rich
