All this talk of meatloaf...

Trying my first meatloaf this afternoon. Used standard recipe from Joy of Cooking. Bought a mix of fresh beef, veal, and pork from the grocery store, too much so ended up with two loafs. Added some stale Lays chips and wrapped one of them in bacon, just 'cause. Cooking one in my new Lodge pan, the other just on foil... Also doing some foil wrapped taters to mash later. More to follow!

Looks great! We're doing one right now as well. You have bacon. We have no bacon. We should have had bacon.

I usually make my meat loaves into two, and vary the seasonings/coverings/pans for each, its fun to compare them side-by-side that way.

Success! It was a little overcooked/dry, because I was taking one of the kids to piano lesson, but overall pretty tasty! Dome temp 300. Internal temp was close to 200 by the time we got home. Nothing a little gravy didn't fix.
I didn't put any wood in for the cook, but I think there was some leftover cherry chunks in there, because I ended up with a smoke ring! The roasted potatoes were turned into mashed potatoes, with butter, cream, and milk. Hard to mess that up!
