@20stone were you using the yeti or artic ice packs?
Neither.  I didn't have any room left over.

However, the meat was all cold when it went in, and it was a short flight.
Nice. I'd love to start bringing packers back on work trips to Houston.

I didnt know if ice packs were TSA friendly.
Just made a long trip out of the US. We took 2 of the Polar Bear soft coolers. They were the high end H2o series. We were told no cooler packs, ice packs of any kind would be allowed in carry on bags. If there was any liquid melt at all in the icepacks it would be discarded. The Yeti style packs they said would not get through (if found).
I started with all frozen meat and cheese and put about 3-4 pounds of dry ice in the top of each cooler. I wrapped the dry ice loosly in brown butcher style paper and jabbed several knife slits into it. 18 hours later all was still frozen solid. TSA did make us unpack each cooler for inspection leaving Houston but had no issues with the content, coolers, or the dry ice. Really worked well but neither of my coolers were as large as the Yeti 30.
    Thank you,

....as a follow up to my earlier questions regarding traveling with the 30.....I had no issues with it as a carry on. I was not carrying any ice are cold based contents....and I did get it checked while gong through the TSA Precheck line. The lady who checked it said that she had checked one earlier that morning that the owner was carrying meat. I was carrying a pair of computer speakers that warranted a look.....though i went straight through on the return trip no problem.
