Even a small air gap makes a big difference in risk.

     Beautiful black and tan effect.

I hadn't seen this before. Good looking table and very nice shop.

Love that sleek, no-visible fastener look, as long as the infrastructure is there for the BGE. Great, contemporary wood "butchering", where less is always more. And the finish is one of the "baddest" yet. Right on the money my friend.

    Thanks!
Everything is joined/aligned using a Festool Domino.  Then glued and locked with Kreg pocket screws.

@LBH I love the sound system. (And the table). Recently broke out my old vinyl and it is quickly becoming another addiction (and wallet drain) just like egging..  Enjoy the egg and the music!

I couldn't build 80% of the things I build without a Domino.  I cut everything with the TS55 req.  I don't own a table saw.   Festool yup

I love the Domino.  I still do the old fashioned mortise and tenons on occasion, but the Domino really makes projects come together fast.

I bought the TS55.  Loved it, but I needed more depth of cut so I sold it and bought the TS75.   I can see how you could forgo a table saw.  But I still probably use my table saw more than any other saw...uhh, except for the miter saw.

Does that Domino use something like fat biscuits? So it's more like a (fat) biscuit joiner than actual Mortise and Tenon joints? Pretty cool tool, though it better be for that price.

@toxarch No, it cuts the mortises for floating tenons.

When I built the Roubo bench I traded up to the TS75  when I finished I went back to the 55.  I just liked the nimble feel.  I have a couple MFT/3 tables and a CMS router table.  The CMS fence is a joke and after 2 years I finally bought the Incra wonder fence kit.   I wonder how I got along without it.   Note. If I had to make a mortise and tenon joint by hand lets just say I'm 0 for 4 years

I've converted entirely to metric.   So much easier.  At least for me and my memory issues.

I have an MFT/3 table.  That thing is built like a tank.  I have an incra fence on my router table.  It's really nice for joinery.  I have a mortising machine and some jigs for tenons.  It's really pretty easy to make them, and I do if I need the joint extra strong and/or it's a through mortise for the looks.

That talmeter looks pretty cool.  I'm sort-of metric, depending on what it is.  My incra stuff is metric.

Sure does make the math easier.

It sure does.  Buy the 6 meter.   If you don't love it I'll cover you.   I swear it's amazing.

The motor on my Delta contractors table saw burned out 3 years ago and I haven't missed it 1 bit thanks to Festool's track saw. The domino biscuit/mortising hybrid can't be beat.

I find it interesting that that are this many eggheads that are Festool geeks too.

Could it it be the color?

I bought the larger Domino DF700 when I made a headboard for our master bedroom as my first Festool. Since then I have convinced the wife that I needed a couple sanders, the dust vacuum, the Track Saw, several tracks of different lengths, a router, the LR32 hole drilling set and track, and to many other tools to list. Every time the wife wants something else built, I use it as an excuse to buy a new Festool.

I have a Sawstop in the basement that is just collecting dust since I purchased the track saw and MFT/3.

  • I had my egg on a 4 inch thick paver stone. When I took the egg out to repaint the table the table was scorched where the stone sat. Now I have an air gap  using the 3 little ceramic feet that came with the egg (at least they did back then).

My Festool comes from my "Magic Attic".  When my wife notices a new tool I tell her I was storing it in the attic.

Just kidding.   The magic attic will only work on used equipment.

You have to baby the Festools.  They're precision tools, not something you can drop off a ladder.   Will never pass the attic ruse. ;)
