Black Cherry Wood?
We had storms roll through central Indiana last night and a buddy had a tree come down. I'm not an expert arborist or anything, but this certainly looks like Black Cherry. Makes excellent smoking wood, if so! Can anyone positively ID? Time to fire up the Stihl and stock up!

Sure looks like it to me. Same storm, I suppose, came thru in South Bend. Gotta get my bow saw out. Plenty of maple and oak came down.

Your buddy doesn't know what kinds of trees he has in his yard? Looks like cherry to me.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

It's black cherry! I had two that I cut down not too long ago to "unshade" SWMBO's garden.
Anyone in Middle TN that would like some of the wood, let me know...
(Also have Mulberry!)

Here's the loot. I didn't score nearly as much as I would have liked but got a decent amount. Between my busy work hours and his impatient wife wanting the thing cleaned up I feel like I did okay. They had the tree trimmer save me a log. No complaints
