yeah. these were nearly twice what we normally pay. i actually called her friday from Market Basket because she had suggested lobsters before the weekend. i said "guess how much the lobsters are?" she thinking they wer gonna be on sale. "nope. 8.99 a pound"fishlessman said:those are some nice ones, still waiting for the price to drop after the fourth
we laughed and said "no way"
yesterday though, with the brisket in the fridge, her car towed, after a long weekend soccer tournament, and all the decent steaks sold out at 4pm, she called an audible.
then of course the fiasco trying to steam them on a twenty dollar ho plate. hahaha

almost seems taboo to buy off the docks around me, i dont think those guys make huge sums and maybe the big buyers frown on it. used to have an IN though, 100 dollars and a rubbermade barrel would show up delivered nearly full and that included a 25 dollar tipSGH said:@Darby_Crenshaw
Do y'all buy them right off the boat and/or dock? I would kill to have easy access to lobster at a decent price. I would probably eat myself to death if I did.
its even better now, my neighbor just sold 2 seafood restaurants but kept the high powered steamer, he just shows up with a pile cooked with butter on the side
last neighborhood party we were shuffling lobsters back and forth in a wheel barrel

We land-locked folks are so jealous! Our kids bought couple of supermarket lobsters yesterday, just under two pound each, on sale 8.99/lb. They boiled it, thanks for sharing the steaming tip.

@Darby_Crenshaw is it possible to have something like that shipped to Atlanta? Anyone know of a reputable source? Some how, some way, I've got to give this a try. Licking the screen isn't getting it done.Snellville, GA

We used to use www.lobsters-online.com, to ship lobsters to my parents, but that was when you essentially paid retail for the lobsters and shipping was the premium
i just checked their prices though and they are higher now than retail. Too bad

I'm not really concerned about price (to an extent) I'd just like to try a lobster of that size. I'll look into the site. Thanks for the info!Snellville, GA

i think we got a six pounder from them once.
i would SERIOUSLY recommend steaming though. the half tails grilled are passable, but there is some loss when you roast the rest in-shell.

I will be knocking when I have them in my possession for some guidance on cooking. Never cooked lobster before but that's about to come to an end.Snellville, GA

well i think then you ought to just get 1-1/2 to 2 pounders. Harder to screw up, and everyone gets one.
