URL Linking not working

Are the URL tags broken or is my syntax wrong? Here's what I'm using:

[url=http://www.cnn.com] Link text [/url]

Should say Link text as a hyperlink to cnn.com, but that's no longer happening.

But that just posts the URL as a link. I want the text to be the link, like a Click Here link.

For example, look at my signature. I made the Twitter and Blog links with the text I want. That was last year. But I just tried to do the same for the link to my new table, but it doesn't work.

That syntax is BBCODE which is not supported by vanilla.  To get what you want type:

Link Text

...then highlight the text, click the link button on the toolbar (looks like a chain with two links), then paste the URL in the input field that pops up and clik [OK].
