Best way to hold BGE temp down until needed later for sear?

Best answer is to probably buy a MM BGE. LOL $$$
Just finished a cook a whole bunch earlier than was the plan. How does one suggest keeping fire lit to pop right back up to direct cook something right before dinner? I wanted to cook corn in the husk along with my other meat but meat was done way to early. Don't know if it is better to just shut it down and restart or let it down smoothly and then bring the temp back up. You guys and ladies of course are the best, Looking to see what comes from those wise BGE'ers

I have usually let it hold at whatever temp I was cooking at initially. Then about 30 min before needed again I open it up and let it get up to my new temp.Medium BGE , iGrill2

Corn is a vegetable that hold relatively well. I have always put it on first (if I am cooking something short, like burgers or a steak) and pull it off if I need to go at a higher temp. You can also cook the corn and throw it in a cooler and it will stay hot.Las Vegas, NV

I think I would just set the vents almost closed so the dome temp is around 250 degrees and let it ride at that temp. Open up the vents when it is time for the sear.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I like the idea of cooking the corn now. I can let it rest with the Lamb Leg. ThanksLBGE May 2016

Maybe I am not understanding the question, but why not just add the meat later in the corn cook?

This works well.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

I would hold the temp on the egg low until dinner time then jack it up and put the corn on. With Florida sweet corn I have found the longer you let it in the warm cycle it becomes less sweet and a little bit dry on less it is sitting in water then it gets less sweet and mushy.Narcoossee, FL
