Today is your day. On behalf of a Grateful Nation, we honor the ultimate sacrifice that your loved ones gave in order to protect the freedom and liberty that we all enjoy.

we passed a marine standing on the side of road today in full dress at attention.
Great at moment to explain to my 5 year old what today signifies.
Thanks to all those that made what we enjoy possible.

Memorial Day is a very special holiday. It is not a holiday to pay thanks for those who served. This holiday is to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to their families. Many years ago I made a point, at sometime during the day, to say a prayer thanking these men. In their own right each and everyone of them are hero's.

There was a traveling miniature version of the Vietnam Wall on display her in the Columbia area over the weekend. By miniature, it was a replica of the one in Washington, but slightly smaller. It spanned a large field and unfortunately, was was likely missed by many. We had a tropical storm hovering over the state, and weather was not suitable for going outside, cause its a shame. I though it was really a neat thing to see, though I really didn't no anyone who's name appeared on it. They had on display some letters that folks had left beside the memorial over the years. Quite touching. We were the only location in the south but it will be headed next for Indiana I believe. Keep your eyes out for it.....a cool thing to go see and do. I believe it was sponsored by USAA Insurance.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

Yesterday was just one day, in our life, annually, we celebrate those who loved their country so much, they sacrificed everything to keep us safe and free.
It is appreciated greatly, the kind gestures offered of thanks, for our service to this country. We should always remember that same kindness for the families and loved ones, of those whom we honor, on Memorial Day.
They, too, have sacrificed, forever.
My passionate and deeply sincere "Thank you on behalf of a grateful nation," will never be enough.
I believe it was General Patton, which said something along the the lines of;
"These heroic men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice should be celebrated that they lived, to protect us, and not be mourned."
This should be done everyday.

Watch a video on YouTube by George Jones called "50,000 names on the wall". If that don't bring it home nothing will. Just sayin'.

Took my daughter to our local cemetery for the ceremony. My grandpa was a WW2 vet and was kind of a tradition for us to go. Saw the montages in commercials and what not with kids saluting their fathers graves brought tears to my eyes. Its an important holiday, but much like the same has said above, we need to truly honor our service men and women still living...“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Made me so proud tonight when my 21 year old son told me he and his best friend went to a local military cemetery as part of their Memorial Day choices. Proud of our fallen.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga
