Brisket Wrap - Brown Paper Bag?
I do about half dozen or so briskets a year. I prefer wrapping in butcher paper but can't find anything less than rolls about 1/2 mile long. I've been "mooching" it from the meat guys at my local Publix but I think they're starting to remember me. A pair of glasses with a big nose and mustache is an option but I also thought about using a large brown paper bag. Anyone ever use one? (The brown paper bag that is.)
Thanks!

I think brown paper bags are held together with glue? Glue might not impart the best flavor...
That said - we used to always cook our turkey in a brown paper bag and it hasn't killed us yet...
I'd say suck it up and buy a roll of butcher paper. -
I bought mine off ceramic grill store for under $30 I think. Don't quote me on the price though.

Used the brown paper bag method before. The only difference is that the paper bag does not hold together as well but I have never had a problem. I have always used butcher paper but in a pinch I have used the "brown bag" method and have not noticed a difference.Brooks

I've heard of people using brown paper bags. I guess it would work fine but I just like the idea of using products that are food safe. Maybe I'm just paranoid. This is what I use.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Paper bags work just fine.
However, and I think most on the forum would agree that the more money you can spend on the paper, and any other gadget - the better your Q will taste.

I don't do brisket and have never wrapped anything for any reason. Does anyone use paper for butts or non-brisket beef roasts? Never heard of doing it... mostly just curious.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I used a brown paper Home Depot refuse bag this weekend and worked fine. I didn't want to buy 1000 ft roll either

I have never done one without it has either been foil or paper. Switched to paper about 2 years ago. I wrapped at 5 hours and then pulled off at 200 then let sit in an ice chest until i was ready to pull.Brooks
